Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting or finance-related role (not-for-profit experience preferred)

Purpose

To provide key administrative support to the Leadership Team (ministers & shepherds) and ministries of the church.

Priorities

The Director of Finance & Administration is responsible for the financial accounting, office administration, human resources, facilities management, ministry support, and other administrative reporting of the church.
Administrative Responsibilities

• Directs activity of administrative functions of the church including preparing church bulletin and announcement slides, information services, website and mobile app, facilities, and administrative personnel
• Maintains church policies and procedures for the Leadership Team
• Serves on building committee and oversees construction projects
• Provides daily leadership and direction to the Office Administrator
• Oversees, schedules, and reviews all third-party vendors
• Coordinates, schedules, and reviews all building usage, including maintaining outside user relationships
• Maintains building usage calendar
• Oversees building set up for discipleship environments
• Processes background checks for all staff; reconciles invoices for staff and volunteer background checks
• Maintains church database and files
• Serves as primary contact for staff, vendors, and others regarding inquires about church administration
• Oversees building security
• Provides administrative support to the various ministries of the church
• Serves as the primary staff support for the Benevolence Team, Hands of Grace, and worship assembly attendance and communion preparation.
 
Financial Responsibilities

• Serves as chair of the finance committee and oversees administration of compensation and benefits for staff
• Negotiates and monitors banking relationships
• Oversees weekly deposits and provides reports to Leadership Team
• Performs bank reconciliations
• Maintain accurate financial records as directed by the finance committee
• Assist finance committee in preparing annual church budget and other financial recommendations for the Leadership Team
• Acts as primary signatory for checks disbursed from all church funds
• Gives monthly financial status reports and other administrative reports to ministers
• Compiles and sends year-end donor tax letters
• Provides key support during capital campaigns
 
Human Resources

Oversees enrollment of benefits (medical, dental & life insurance, flexible spending accounts, long-term disability, workman’s comp & COBRA)
• Communicates benefit information and changes to staff
• Assesses and negotiates appropriate benefits coverage for staff
• Assesses and purchases appropriate insurance coverage for property, casualty, and other needs
• Documents and maintains all staff job descriptions for the Leadership Team
• Conducts annual performance evaluation of the Office Administrator
 
Other Responsibilities

• Represents Church Office Administration on the Leadership Team
• Provides pertinent information to the Leadership Team as needed
• Provides relevant administrative input during weekly staff meetings
• Serves as secretary of the Tactical Team by recording the minutes and communicating the meeting notes to the Leadership Team and others as needed
• Assists ministers with church events as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Minister

Work Schedule

Works regular office hours Monday – Thursday and Sundays
40 hours/week

The Director of Finance & Administration should have a strong task-focused personality. He or she should also possess the spiritual gifts of administration, exhortation, service, helps, and discernment.
